It seems like yesterday, but a year has passed and we are back in The Valencia Show. In Official Section we found sweet titles in competition. We start with the Valencian film Marina unplugged by Alfonso Amador, adaptation of her play that tells the preparation of a speech by a far-right leader. This film is followed by ten works from countries like Serbia (Lost country de Vladimir Perišić), Morocco (the animal by Sofia Alaoui, y Deserts by Faouzi Bensaïdi), Türkiye (Afloat de Aslihan Unaldi), Portugal (Rabat City by Susana Nobre), Palestine (A house in Jerusalem de Muayad Alayan), Albania (Three sparks the Kino Rebelde), France (Toni, with family by Nathan Ambrosioni), Italia (Fireworks by Giuseppe Fiorello), Syria (The wedding parade de Sevinaz Evdike) and Lebanon (Riverbed the Bassem Breche). The informative section will bring another ten titles, among which this year we wanted to highlight the comedy and action genre.. We will see the comedies Gracias, boys by Riccardo Milani, Takeover by Gilles Perret or The (in)famous Youssef Salem by the French Baya Kasmi, or police titles like Last night in Milan by Andrea Di Stefano and The green sea from French Pierre Jolive. Among the tributes we find the Portuguese director Edgar Pêra, for some the “greatest unknown master of modern Portuguese cinema”, whose work encompasses all forms of expression, from fiction, the documentary, telefilms, cinema-diaries, facilities, Musical, movies in progress, as well as 3D cinema or the use of AI. The cycle includes his latest production, I'm Nothing - The Nothingness Club, about the figure of Fernando Pessoa. Besides, Mostra de Valencia honors the Valencian pioneer Helena Cortesina, first director and producer of Spanish cinema, To whose figure he will dedicate an exhibition on the occasion of the hundred years since the premiere of Flower of Spain, his only known feature film. Programming continues with the cycle Echoes of Lebanon what, with ten titles, brings us the highlights of contemporary Lebanese cinema that will address issues such as capitalist society in Costa Brava, Lebanon de Mounia Akl, the weight of the past on Memory box by Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige, the war in Elektra of Hisham Bizri or the city of Beirut itself in After the end of the world de Nadim Mishlawi, among other. And pay attention because in this edition Mostra de Valencia will present the Palm Tree of honor to the Italian director Paolo Sorrentino. No introduction needed. With this reason, La Mostra co-organizes with La Filmoteca a cycle of Sorrentino with ten of his feature films, which include titles such as The consequences of love [20 y 28/10], The great beauty [21 y 26/10] o The youth [23 y 28/10].
