The Valencian agricultural culture is one of the richest in crop diversity in the world. Despite the genetic erosion produced in the last ones decades, the task of selecting and caring for our male and female plowmen over the years has allowed that the Valencians faces conservem a lot of diversity in the fields. Despite that, continues to be at risk ofextinction. One of the most relevant conservation tools is the Valencian catalog of traditional varieties of agricultural interest ―format per a selection of old cultivars freely accessible on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture and the seed loan― and participative because decisions about the content are made in a commission where the agricultural sector is represented and the seeds that are produced they are available to producers who request them at the experimental stations in Elche, Vila-real and Carcaixent, so that they are preserved in the field, in the hands of the producers and with a future perspective.
