Mulatu Astatke

WEDNESDAY 6/11, 21H. 30/35€
RAMBLET. Bulevard sud, esq. Pius IX

Framed within the attractive programming of the Piñata Festival Valencia, We highlight with special enthusiasm the concert of someone who is considered a father and everlasting reference of the so-called ethio-jazz: the great musician, Ethiopian composer and multi-instrumentalist Mulatu Astatke. Theirs is re-fusion music (since jazz is already fusion) which has become a genre in itself. Delicious vibraphone notes, saxophone and piano dance on a carpet of calm Afro-Oriental rhythms and melodies, almost hypnotizing, that will make the public vibrate in the form of great songs like “Yègellé tezeta”, "Yekermo Sew", "Gubélyé (My Gubel)” o “Mascaram setaba”. Jim Jarmusch himself realized his genius and signed the now octogenarian musician for the soundtrack of his feature film Broken flowers back in 2005. SERGIO BELLO
