THE RAMBLET. Bulevard sud, cant. Pius IX
With a career spanning twenty years and a dozen albums under his belt, the quartet originally from Brighton, Fujiya & Miyagi, continues to unleash his contagious energy on records and on stage. It is difficult to define his music: rock with a club attitude, not really pop but very often funk, a certain form of electro-krautrock reminiscent of David Bowie of the period Fame. To give you an idea, listen to the latest album, Slight variations (2022) which is a range of the best of the group's possibilities since its inception: the rock spirit is intense and the electro touch serves jovial melodies and stories that we imagine tortuous, full of indescribable feelings and aborted hopes. On stage, David Best's wry, laconic voice is captivating, epileptic synths pick up the pace, cathodal rhythms increase pressure, recovering the memory of the raves English of the nineties. The kind of emotion that leaves scars in the memories of the spectators. B.L.
