Case Oats is a brand new folk pop band with a country flavor born by chance. They are frontwoman, Casey Gomez Walker, has told it without reservations on Substack, who wanted to write a novel and ended up with an album: Last Missouri Exit. He brought the song “Bluff” to Spencer Tweedy—the son of Jeff Tweedy, of Wilco— and they recorded it in the studio in a couple of hours (I had never recorded anything before). He posted it on Bandcamp, a friend wanted to hire her for a show and she, fanfarrona, he pretended he had a band. So he had to put it together quickly., out of nowhere, just like the songs that he would present live and that would end up forming (some) part of the disk. Contains letters about baseball caps, ponytails and porch swings, sung with a simplicity that calls for intimacy. We will see live! S.M.
