UNTIL SUNDAY 16/4
CARME CENTER. Museum, 2
On the occasion of the designation of Valencia as World Design Capital, The Center del Carme gives us the luxury of getting to know more about Jaime Hayon, National Design Award 2021, a multifaceted artist who explores the blurred border between design and art with pieces in which functionality is not at all the main objective. This is the first large-format retrospective of Hayon's work to be held in Spain, filling the rooms of the CCCC with disturbing masks, fascinating furniture, imposing sculptures, canvases and interventions on the walls where wild animals are shown, flowers and human faces. Glass and ceramics, great protagonists of his work, they give life to their masks, vases, sculptures; His paintings fill the white walls with powerful colors, now covered by green, red, and bright yellows; seven large-format tapestry masks are suspended in the air asking us to move between them. Notepads, drawings, samples and notes bring us even closer to the universe of this artist who surprises and overwhelms in equal parts. GLORIA POZUELO
