Emergency on planet earth

UNTIL SUNDAY 4/10
CARME CENTER. Museum, 2

Fourteen artists from the five continents have gathered together in the Center del Carme to propose, through art, the twelve crucial environmental challenges facing humanity. Deia Vinz Feel Free, artist and co-curator of the exhibition, that the idea ofEmergency on planet earth it is to raise a terrible reality in the most beautiful way possible, combining the dreamlike, imagination and scientific data. Looking for impact first, and awareness afterwards. with luck, then the action would come, that would be our thing.

The Swiss of Turkish origin welcomes us in the lobby Onur Dinc with a dying bee surrounded by polar debris that melts due to climate change and a fire that devours everything in its path. The central corridor of the Ferreres Goerlich room is retro-futuristic, Deih it makes visible this space junk made of obsolete satellites and other aeronautical junk that we do not perceive as a threat because we do not see it and we have not yet suffered its consequences. In the rest of the rooms you will find a Former Lopez hanging from the ceiling a tuna that disembowels its plastic intestines on a table of upa and planting a radioactive vegetable garden next to Vinz Feel Free. Whose anthropomorphic birds photographed by Spencer Tunick they have sad heads, ocher and envious as they drink from the murky waters that run under the Brooklyn Bridge, in opposition to the colorful and cheerful ones that fly over a natural place a 45 minutes from Manhattan.

The overpopulation that saturates the planet is ironically represented by Marina Capdevila i FREE OA has painted plants and flowers from forests on every continent—a global forest—under a large central black square representing deforestation as opposed to beauty. Barbiturikills i Will Coles, with friendly and childlike aesthetics and a lot of humor, has placed the type of stickers that are used in meetings where the attendees do not know each other (Hello my name is…), conjugated in past tense (was), on tombstones of animals in danger of extinction. There is also a lot of humor in the great "advertising mural" of classic airs Reskate which criticizes the use of fossil fuels and values renewable energies, specifically, the solar, "Recommended by Akhenaton since the 14th century BC.". The Canadian closes the tour Aaron Li-Hill recreating an ecosystem that immerses us in climate change through deforestation. A forest completely destroyed by the action of climate change in which the trees that remain upright are white and melt into the sky, we only see those who have fallen, rendered more realistically to suggest that we are only aware of nature when it is out of place. In the center of the room, a large diseased tree is the nerve center of a few lost and disoriented humans and animals (one holds a flag) united by a thread that represents the interconnection that prevails on planet Earth. The climate emergency made into art at the Center del Carmen. S.M.
