UNTIL SUNDAY 29/11
THE SHIP. University, 2
The tandem formed by the University of Valencia and Ana Teresa Ortega rolls naturally. La Nau continues in the line of programming exhibitions of a documentary nature, vindictive and recovery of historical memory, and Ortega continues to approach, of art, little-discussed aspects of the Franco dictatorship and the first years of democracy. You already do it with Mute cartographies, a project presented at La Nau on 2010 which identified the exact location of the spaces that were used by the insurgents as concentration camps or places of repression. We buy, the artist recovers the memory of the thousands of minors who were separated from their mothers through historical documents and three types of photographs: women's prisons; clinics, hospitals and nursing homes; and reformatories of the Women's Protection Board. Many of these places have disappeared, they have changed use or are now part of the everyday landscape of cities, but they remain as material traces of a history marked by repression, the control over women and the separation of mothers and children.
