A meeting with Gemma Blasco about the creation process of In anger.
This meeting of the film program is conceived as a conversation in which the director and co-writer will share what it was like to compose a film that conveys personal experience with a more raw and visceral look at sexual violence. A sample of his work files and filming documents on which he relied for the construction of a new imaginary of his representation in the audiovisual.
Gemma Blasco, 1993. He studied directing and screenwriting at the Bande à Part school in Barcelona. He has also been trained in workshops such as 'La construcción del personaje' at the EICTV (Cuba) or 'Filming in Barcelona with Abbas Kiarostami'. He has directed feature films, short films, advertising and audiovisuals for theatre. He currently teaches masterclasses, acting classes and prepares his next fiction project, Petrol, in the Residence of Guions of the Academy of the Catalan Cinema.
His short film pack (2018) received the SGAE-New Authorship award from the Sitges Festival. In 2019, the Gijón Festival premiered its project The zoo, an experimental feature film that plays with theatrical registers. In 2025, his first feature length fiction film, In anger, had its world premiere at the South by Southwest festival in the USA. In his journey through festivals he has obtained three awards from the Official Section of the Malaga Festival (best actress, Best Supporting Actor and Best Editing), the special mention of the jury at SXSW London and was the opening film of the D'A Festival Cinema Barcelona 2025. She is one of the protagonists of the award season of Spanish cinema with six nominations for the Gaudí Awards and one nomination for the Forqué Awards and the Feroz Awards in the Best Leading Actress category for Ángela Cervantes.
