Sedajazz presents the Sedajazz Latin Big Band, a large orchestra dedicated to Latin jazz that offers a tour of some of the most representative moments of this musical style. The program explores the evolution of this music from its Afro-Cuban roots to its contemporary developments, showing how the encounter between North American jazz and Caribbean rhythms gave rise to one of the most vibrant languages of modern music.
The concert travels from the birth of Afro-Cuban Jazz in New York in the 1990s. 40 with figures like Machito and Mario Bauzá, going through the Cubop revolution of Dizzy Gillespie and Chano Pozo, the splendor of the mambo and the discharges of the years 50 y 60 with Tito Puente, the Brazilian influence of bossa nova, and the incorporation of the Latin song and the bolero to the language of jazz. The tour is completed with modern Latin jazz that emerged in New York in the decades of 1980 y 1990 and some of its current derivations.
The Sedajazz Latin Big Band brings together professional musicians and young talents from the Sedajazz collective, an intergenerational project that reflects the vitality of Valencian jazz. In 2026 Sedajazz celebrates its 35 birthday, with thousands of concerts, more of 170 published albums and hundreds of musicians trained in his career.
