II Read withScience: José Mª Bermúdez de Castro

The Polytechnic University of Valencia has organized the second edition of Leer conCiencia, meetings that fuse literature, current affairs and scientific dissemination, and that this year they will be led by three exceptional speakers: the journalist José Luis Sastre, the paleoanthropologist and co-director of the excavations of the sites in the Sierra de Atapuerca since 1991 José María Bermúdez de Castro and the journalist Paloma del Río.

It will be José Luis Sastre who opens the 17 April the second season of Leer conCiencia. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m., in the assembly hall of the Nexus building on the Vera campus of the UPV. It will be hosted by Luis Zurano, journalist from the Communication Area, who will engage in a dialogue with Sastre about the creation process of his new book, his memories of the worst years of lead and “how far we are willing to give up to defend an ideal”, among many other issues. After the end of the meeting, José Luis Sastre will sign his book for all interested people. Besides, both before and after the event, there will be a book sales point, thanks to the collaboration of the bookstore “The Traca” of Benimaclet.

After this first meeting, The next protagonist of “Read with Science” will be the paleoanthropologist José María Bermúdez de Castro, co-director of the excavations of the sites in the Sierra de Atapuerca since 1991 and Prince of Asturias Award for Scientific and Technical Research 1997. Bermúdez de Castro will speak at the UPV about his work in Atapuerca, his book “Homo antecessor: The birth of a species” and about human evolution. Also about his work in the field of dissemination, in which it is one of the great references of the country. It will be the 24 of April, at 6:30 p.m., also in the assembly hall of the Nexus building. You can sign up for this other form.

River Pigeon, he 28 of May
and on thursday 28 May Paloma del Río, Spanish journalist who has covered the Olympic Games the most times, will be the main protagonist of the third and last Read conCiencia of this course. River Pigeon, one of the pioneering women in sports information , will present his book at this meeting, which is titled “That was not in my book about the Olympic Games”. It will also be from 6:30 p.m., in the assembly hall of the Nexus building of the UPV. Access will also be free, prior registration.
