Based in New York, the Slovenian saxophonist and composer Igor Lumpert, returns to this club after his participation, last october, at the Jimmy Glass International Contemporary Jazz Festival, to present his latest album Resistance of the Earth, a new project that features the great Argentine pianist Leo Genovese.
This last work arose from a multimedia project made to order, focused on a universal environmental concern, with video projections and a choir, that Lumpert created a decade ago, but that was never documented. The album was recorded after a single rehearsal and in a single one-day session at the Samurai Hotel recording studio in New York..
The album reflects the spontaneous spirit of its creation, its urgent and emotional themes, as well as recurrent environmental disasters. It is inspired by Hurricane Sandy (Lumpert was in New York in 2012), Japan tsunami 2011 (I had friends there) and Hurricane Katrina.
