175 years in the heart of Valencia

The exhibition 175 years in the heart of Valencia celebrates the birth and evolution of the Escola d’Art i Superior de Disseny de València, key institution in the cultural life of the city. With more than a hundred works, the sample runs 175 years of history in the same building where it emerged in 1850 the old School of Arts and Crafts (current Carme Center Contemporary Culture), created to improve Valencian craftsmanship.

For more than a hundred years, The institution trained thousands of students in applied arts and artistic trades, contributing to the industrial development of the city. Since the sixties of the last 20th century, it incorporated innovative studies such as interior design, graphic design, moda, product design, photography and jewelry, consolidating itself as a reference in pedagogical renewal and internationalization.

The exhibition, made up only of works by EASD alumni, connect past and future, reclaiming the heritage legacy and celebrating the challenges and opportunities facing design education in the 21st century.
