No es la primera vez que Alberto San Juan aúna música y poesía. Te quiero, Benedetti (La patria y el exilio) es un homenaje al célebre escritor uruguayo Mario Benedetti que tantos géneros cultivó. Pero es, at the same time, he megáfono con el que recordar las diferentes voces latinoamericanas y españolas que se vieron forzadas a cruzar el Atlántico escapando de dictaduras, de la pobreza y de las injusticias sociales y económicas que tantos casos, cercenados de libertades, causaron. Hablamos de Luis Cernuda, Eduardo Galeano, María Zambrano, Pedro Salinas o Ernesto Sábato. Acompaña a San Juan en la autoría y sobre el escenario el guitarrista y compositor Fernando Egozocue.
