ARTS. Professor Lopez Piñero, 1
Among Handel's "magical" operas, Orlando (1733, fromFurious Orlando of the Italian poet Ariosto) occupies a unique place: she is the only one who trusts the supernatural, not to a witch but to a wizard, Zoroaster, one of the most beautiful bass roles in the Handelian repertoire. The book presents five people wounded by love, torn between desire, jealousy and disillusionment. His score impresses with the audacity of the construction, the melodic richness, orchestral inventiveness, the strength of the recitatives and arias of superb expressiveness. Under the direction of Marc Minkowski, the Musicians of the Louvre and the virtuoso vocal ensemble formed by Aude Extremo (mezzo-soprano), Ana Maria Labin (soprano) i Yuri Mynenko (countertenor), they will make Les Arts vibrate with theirs airy feverish, the airs of bravura and the moans strikers, to the breathtaking scene of madness in Orlando.
