Cartas de amor es teatro seco, sobrio, basado casi exclusivamente en la palabra hablada. Se estrenó en Connecticut en 1988, arrasó en el circuito off de New York y de ahí pasó al Edison Theatre de Broadway hasta 1990, pero ha seguido representándose esporádicamente sobre los escenarios con actores como Charlton Heston y Jean Simmons (1991), Sigourney Weaver y Jeff Daniels (2007), o Elizabeth Taylor (2007). Se trata de un montaje extremadamente sencillo sobre dos personajes, Melissa Gardner y Andrew Makepeace Ladd III, que se leen el uno al otro las cartas que han intercambiado durante casi cincuenta años de relación epistolar. David Serrano (Lluvia constante) dirige esta adaptación interpretada por Julia Gutiérrez Caba y Miguel Rellán. S.M.
