EL CASINO CULTURAL CENTER. Pl. Valencian Country, s/n
quartmetratges.wordpress.com
One of the oldest competitions in the Valencian Community. Quartmetratjes focuses on two sections: the script competition and the official short film section, con 26 competition pieces divided into 16 short fiction, 5 animation and 5 documentaries, most dedicated to social issues. This year the Festival has its central axis on women and the role they play in the audiovisual world. In addition to the festival logo, This theme will be the protagonist in the masterclass that will be celebrated, among other parallel activities, on Wednesday 17/10 and which is titled The role of women in 21st century Cinema. The quote offers a reflection on the situation of women within the audiovisual industry where, as the figures indicate, His presence in the creative field barely covers the 14%. The class will be taught by the director Judith Colell, co-founder of CIMA (Association of Women Filmmakers and Audiovisual Media) and who has an extensive film career with titles such as Elisa K o Us. The presentation of the session will be given by Áurea Ortíz, Professor of Art History at the University of Valencia, film and technical criticism at the Valencia Film Library. No less notable is another of the workshops that Quartmetratjes organizes for this edition entitled Breaking down the Short Film. Directed by (attention!) the Alicante director Chema García Ibarra, This class is intended for audiovisual students and young filmmakers with the aim of debating, through the director's own experience, on how to pay attention to the reality that surrounds us as a source of inspiration to construct a cinematographic work. For those who don't know him yet, García Ibarra is the brain behind titles like The attack of the Nebula-5 robots, Protoparticles, Mystery, Uranesy The disco shines, all of them domestic science fiction films made without professional actors. His short films have been selected for prestigious festivals such as the Directors' Fortnight in Cannes., Sundance, Berlinale, San Sebastián o Rotterdam. like every year, Quarter films incorporates into its programming audiovisual works related to an entity in charge of carrying out social work. In this edition the guest is Short for Equality, short film competition that addresses discrimination against women and their fight for equality. Presented by your coordinator, Paqui Mendez, This session will offer the best works presented throughout the ten years of the festival's life. G.LEON
