VIII Women and Cinema

Eighth edition of this competition organized by the Women in Art association in collaboration with other entities such as Babel Cinemas, l’October CCC and the Col·legi Major Rector Peset, to which, this year, has been added’Film Class of the University of Valencia and the multidisciplinary space The Ice Factory. Dona i cinema is a film biennial dedicated exclusively to works directed by women, in short animation formats, fiction and documentary, long fiction and documentary and video creation. this year, 43 films participate in the official section and come from countries as far away as Japan, Lebanon, Serbia, Colombia, Mexico or Brazil. Most of the works will be unpublished for the Valencian public and there will be some national premieres, com the finnish documentary Hard to break d'Anna-Maija Heinonen i Krista Moisio o Fernanda young by Brazilian Susanna Lira. In fiction we also find two premieres in Spain: Postmarks by Natalia Nazarova (Russia) i, from Poland, Different paths to holiness d'Aniela Astrid Gabryel, a film in which six intertwined stories paint a disillusioned portrait of a generation searching for its place in a world, where the values ​​seem to have blurred. Besides, we will have the European premiere of’The Cowboy d'Emma Rozanski, an uplifting drama about self-determination in Colombia. In addition to the screenings of the official section, the festival is completed with a program that includes debates and meetings that help to reflect and promote the dissemination of cinema made by women. These activities include the cycle Women after the Chamber, and the guest festival screening, Mediterranean views, a festival focused on Mediterranean women's cinema based in Lisbon. AU
