FROM THURSDAY 1/12 ON SUNDAY 8/1
THE FILMTECA. Pl. town hall, 17
When we talk about the film producer, the name David O immediately appears. Selznick, la maque made films like Gone with the wind, The third man or much of Hitchcock's work. But he is not the only one. This month La Filmoteca de València brings us a series that vindicates the figure of another perhaps less well-known producer, but equally relevant. The career of Jeremy Thomas reminds us of one of those rare personalities who managed to develop outside of the big studios, pushing the imagination of directors like Nagisha Ôshima, Bernardo Bertolucci, David Cronenberg, Jonathan Glazer, Volker Schlöndorff, Jim Jarmusch i Terry Gilliam. The cycle starts with the documentary Jeremy Thomas, a life of cinema [30/11], by Mark Cousins (The history of cinema: an odyssey). They will follow this tape revenge [1-2/12], de Stephen Frears; Merry christmas, Mr. Lawrence [3 i7/12], by Nagisa Ôshima and with David Bowie in the cast; everyone wins [8-9/12] but Karel Reisz, Crash [9 i 13/12], de Paul Haggis i naked lunch [18 i 20/12] by David Cronenberg, blood and wine [14 i 16/12] the Bob Rafelson, All small animals [15 i 21/12], directed by Jeremy Thomas, as well as The last emperor [10 i 30], The protective sky [16-17/12], Sexy beast [23 i 27/12] i Dreamers [23 i 28/12] by Bertolucci, others.
