With this cycle, The Filmoteca vindicates its role in the discovery of those cinematographies that remain forgotten from that story in progress which we call History of Cinema. Mangani’s cinema addresses reality distrusting her by, from the inn on stage, to investigate this Italy that would try to rise from the ruins after the Second World War. The cycle begins at the end, with the tape of 2020, Two forgotten boxes, which narrates the trip made by Mangini and his partner Lino del Fra to Vietnam to portray Asian society. The trip serves as an excuse for a reflection on his life, the changes the world has undergone and the future. Next, we will see two sessions with his short films. Among them, the three titles made with texts by Pier Paolo Pasolini stand out (Unknown to the city, The song of the marane i Stendalì), o Mary and the days i The passion of wheat, in which Mangini investigates the transformation of the rural world with the arrival of industrialization.
