New edition of this Show of Valencia that aspires to be a showcase for cinema made in the Mediterranean area, cradle of our culture, mirror of our virtues and miseries. In the Official Competition Section, not yet revealed at the time of going to press, we will find films from countries like France, Libya, Egypt, Greece, Spain, Türkiye and Albania. In the Information Section we will see some of the most relevant titles that have been at other festivals with works such as The miserable of Ship Ly, Zero impunity by Nicholas Blew y Stéphane Hueber-Blies, The truth of Hirozaku Koreeda, Mar of Daisy Gil o Alice and the maire by Nicholas Parisian. Two cycles accompany the programming. The first is titled The women's revolution in Egyptian cinema and wants to be a tribute to the inclusion of women in Egyptian cinematography. Here we will find various titles and themes, from the vindication of women in the public space in A day for dryn of Kamla Abou Zekr, going through the Arab Spring of Nawara de Hala Khalil, or an approach to film genres such as Transit prisoner o He-Interest by Sandra Activity, the comedy of Cut and paste de Hala Khalil, o dramas like One-zero of Kamla Abou Zekri. The second of the cycles recovers the Italian comedy of the years 50 y 60 with classics like Italian style divorce by Pietro Germs, The getaway by Dino innovation, Death by Mario Monicelli, Where the free…? of Rossellini o Little birds and little birds of Pasolini, among others.
In this edition, The Show will pay tribute to director Liliana Cavani, reference of Italian cinema whose career began in the late sixties and in which we find titles such as The night porter, his most controversial work, Beyond good and evil, The skin, behind the door, inner berlin o Ripley's game. Next to her, The event will pay tribute to the Valencian director Toni Canet with a retrospective that includes titles such as The shirt of the serp or the documentary The wings of life. The festival will begin with the screening of his posthumous work lime blanca, carbon black. The Golden Palm Tree will go to the Turkish director this year Ferzan Ozpetek, author of tapes like Bathroom, the turkish bath, The ignorant fairy o Rosso Istanbul. G.LEON
