XIX Etnomusic

MUSIC FESTIVAL

FROM THURSDAY 5/5 ON SATURDAY 4/6
THE ETHNO. Corona, 36

Etnomusic is one of the most particular festivals in the city because it leaves out indie, reggaetón and any of the trendy music of the moment in the state to discover folk and roots music from around the world, from the English Channel to Senegal, from Valencia to Morocco via Andalusia. This year the manchega cycle will start ANA ALCAIDE [5/5], an artist in love with instruments from other traditions and cultures, that in his new project Ritual, arose from the meeting with the Iranian singer Resa Shayesteh, proposes a mystical journey. Besarabia [11/5] he visits us again with his second album Animal Republic, a look from Valencia towards the music of the Mediterranean and the Balkans. And without leaving the Mediterranean East, the components of the Valencian group Ataxia [26/5] bring together a repertoire based on traditional pieces from Greece. On the other hand, Momi Maiga is a young Senegalese from 24 virtuous years of the kora, very popular instrument in Senegal. He will present the project Nio what does it mean “soul” en mandinka, his native language, alongside the Catalan percussionist Aleix Tobias, the cellist Marçal Ayats and the Mexican violinist Carlos Monfort. this one 2022 the festival will have a section started last year that aims to engage younger audiences with new formats. That's what they will do Maui [28/5], a cantatri from Utrera that takes the viewer to unusual worlds through songs sung and counted; and the Franco-Moroccan group N3rdistan [4/6] mixing hip-hop, rap, electro-rock and traditional Arabic melodies.
