FROM THURSDAY 16 ON SATURDAY 18/6
S. MICHAEL OF THE KINGS. Constitution, 284
The Renaissance was a period of cultural upheaval in 15th and 16th century Europe that we know especially for its pictorial production, you know, that of the Leonardos, Michelangelo, Rafael, Donatello… But music was another of the arts that stood out in this period and the Renaissance Festival has the mission of bringing it closer to us inside the imposing monastery of Sant Miquel dels Reis, very important building of the Valencian Renaissance. The Andalusian Ensemble of Tetuán [16] will perform the poetic and musical exchanges that took place on the occasion of Al-Andalus, the british chamber choir The Swan Consort [17] will present a program designed around the emotions of pain and hope and Chapel of Ministers [16], with Carles Magraner in charge, will pay homage to Mrs. Mencía de Mendoza and Fonseca, patrons of music, arts and literature at the court of Charles V. And he will close the program with a repertoire of music and poetry from the Golden Age around Joan Brudieu and Ausiàs March [18] interpreted, others, for the soprano Elia Casanova. The farewell will be with a themed dinner around the Borja family in the monastery's cloister, with music of the time, Renaissance poetry and dance. S.M.
