With international festivals such as the FIB, he Rototom Sunsplash, l’Arenal Sound, he Saint Saint, the Sea of Sounds, and so many others it is normal that the north of Valencia is named after “festival land”. But, lately, some voices rightly criticize the purely commercial aspect that these macro events have become (see Nando Cruz's excellent essay Macro festivals. Peninsula, 2023) instead of focusing on the quality of both musical and social experience. maybe, then, this point should be one of the lines of (re)thought of the state sector of live music that meets during a weekend for the edition 2023 of the fair we find! in Castelló de la Plana. In parallel with the workshops and conferences intended for professionals, the team programs a series of concerts open to the public that want to be representative of the vitality of the Valencian and state music scene. The Valencian poster 2023 proposes both confirmed musicians (The Sausage, Tortel, Blue Boi, Jimena Yellow, Esther o The Deluge) as emerging artists (The Manises, That, The Mary, Morreo, etc.). Regarding the program of musicians outside the Valencian borders, it is an adequate sample of the diversity of genres and the originality of the proposals that travel around the state: Rodrigo Cuevas (Asturias), of sailing (Basque Country), Ixeya (Aragon), Julia Columbus (Mallorca), The Dove (Madrid), Carlota Flâneur i Manel Fortià (Catalonia), etc. A sign that confirms, if we still doubted it, of the well-being of music in the Valencian Country and beyond.
