19:30 Archpriest of Santa María
Jorge García Martin, historic Turull organ
Organic Faculty
This program proposes a fascinating dialogue between Italian baroque rhetoric and the organ mysticism of the Spanish Golden Age.. The opening, an adaptation of the Toccata on Mazzocchi's sonnet, emphasizes the interconnection between the poetic word and instrumental abstraction, a key concept in the Seicento. The core of the recital runs through the masterful Organic Faculty (1626) Strap, where Tiento stands as the form of musical thought par excellence. The alternation between the contrapuntal rigor of the speeches and the rhythmic freedom of the Gallardas reflects the duality between the sacred and the profane.. The recital culminates with the Sonata and the improvisation, claiming the organ not only as a liturgical instrument, but as a vehicle of personal expression and technical virtuosity that transcends its time.
Built by Francisco Turull, in between 1717 y 1724, delivery year, the organ is located next to the choir, between the first two columns of the left nave. The baroque box is the work of the sculptor Vicente Dols, On the cornice there are three sections of canonical tubes; the organ with sound consists of two bodies: The first, corresponds to the largest organ and occupies the main part of the façade; The second, corresponds to the hip organ, located behind the organist's backrest, whose tubes were covered by oil paintings. At the moment, mechanical transmission and with 3.645 tubes, It is considered the most important historical organ of the Valencian Community.
