The quartet led by the Italian pianist Emanuele Filippi presents Carousel, a project that unites jazz improvisation with the essence of chamber music. Engraved in 2023 at the Artesuono studios (Friuli) and produced by renowned Grammy-nominated artist and producer Glauco Venier, the project explores new soundscapes through an unconventional formation that replaces the double bass with the bass clarinet.
Emanuele Filippi has worked with legends like Enrico Rava, Ben Van Gelder, Seamus Blake, Chris Morrissey y Fabrizio Bosso, and has released four albums to his name. He studied at the Udine Conservatory and obtained a master's degree at the City College of New York, deepening his training with Fred Hersch and Glauco Venier. Winner of the Chicco Bettinardi competition and beneficiary of SIAE support through Italia Music Export and the “Per chi crea” program. Fred Hersch described his music as “delicate but profound” and Enrico Rava compared it to the narrative of Raymond Carver..
