XIV Fesival 10 Senses: Antoñita. Irene de la Rosa

Despite losing audition in childhood due to a disease, Antonia Singla transcended her condition to erect as one of the greatest figures of flamenco dance. His particular way of feeling the rhythm, internalizing it to mark it with the strength of your feet, propelled her to conquer stages throughout Europe. He shared the bill with legends like Camarón de la Isla, Paco de Lucía and El Lebrijano, turned with Ella Fitzgerald, inspired Salvador Dalí and was admired by Marcel Duchamp. Jean Cocteau even described her as an artist who "spit fire through her mouth and put it out with her feet.".

Antoñita is the latest creation of Irene de la Rosa, inspired by the fascinating story of La Singla. A proposal that investigates vibration, the expressiveness and rhythmic essence of flamenco beyond the sound, exploring the body as a tool of perception.

The Irene de la Rosa Company comes to give flamenco a spin. Their goal is to break the mold, forget about clichés and activate new ways of expressing yourself. Their commitment to innovation and the power of dance to transform and connect with people of all kinds, fusing the root with current trends. Irene de la Rosa has performed for the Festival 10 Senses a workshop with deaf people. The idea is to experience first-hand their experiences and how they perceive the rhythm, integrating those voices and sensibilities into the piece itself.
