Perico Sambeat Plays Zappa II
In 2015 the internationally renowned saxophonist Perico Sambeat, at the initiative of Jimmy Glass as producer, directed a project based on the work of the great progressive rock musician and composer Frank Zappa, to perform it at the V Jimmy Glass Contemporary Jazz Festival, which was an extraordinary event. Sambeat led a powerful ensemble of important Valencian jazz musicians, Hot Rats Ensemble, to perform some songs that later materialized on the album Perico Sambeat Plays Zappa (Karonte, 2016). This initiative led to a series of concerts held at many important festivals. (Saint Sebastian, terrace, Madrid, Valencia…), and to this day this project is requested in numerous auditoriums and festivals.
Now, in 2024, We return to this project in which Perico Sambeat once again gives jazz life to another batch of new Zappa songs, to present them at the XIII Jimmy Glass Jazz International Contemporary Jazz Festival, with the artistic direction and production of Perico Sambeat and the executive production of Chevi Martínez / Jimmy Glass Jazz.
