Of 2004 it's fa to Gata (High marina, Valencian Country) the most important outdoor textile art exhibition in all of Spain. In some editions it has come to gather a 138 works by authors of 27 countries. This also means that it is, possibly, one of the most important annual international exhibitions in Valencia. To this must be added that the authors submit to an international jury that selects the works that participate in the exhibition. In the municipality of Gata, the tradition of hanging blankets on the occasion of the passage of the processions or to indicate the house of the boy or girl taking communion has remained very pure. This is the starting point of ART AL VENT. So much so that the sizes of the works respect the dimensions of a blanket and the works must be able to move in the wind like another blanket.
The exhibition takes place, traditionally from Carrer La Bassa to Plaça de l'Església during the month of July. This year the exhibition has 83 buys 17 different countries and for works in Carrer la Bassa will be exhibited , exceptionally, in the Plaça de l'Església, Carrer Dr Gómez Ferrer and Constitució to Plaça Nova. It is organized by the Department of Culture of Gata de Gorgos and directed by Josep Ginestar. Each year a compilation catalog of all the works that participate in the exhibition is published, and while the exhibition lasts, different complementary cultural activities take place.
