XII Classic Theater Festival of l’Alcudia: Lysistrata. Occupy the Acropolis

The festival, organized by the University of Alicante and the La Alcudia University Foundation for Archaeological Research, includes 6 outdoor theatrical performances, three in the Teaching Theater block and three in the Professional Theater block, all of them around myths and legends of the Greco-Latin tradition, from both classic and contemporary visions.

The first block will host the recent premieres of the UA Theater Classroom, Lysistrata. Occupy the Acropolis, and the UMH Theater Company, A San Juan Night's Dream, as well as the winning work of the VII Greco-Latin Theater School Contest of the UA, Greek loves: Sappho, Alcibiades, Hipparchy, by the IES Pascual Carrión de Sax Theater Group.

In the professional theater section, Bambalina Teatre will present to us its immersion with puppets in the King Oedipus by Sophocles (in Valencian). The next day, and after its absolute premiere at the Mérida International Classical Theater Festival, Verbo Producciones will arrive with the comedy Appearance, of Menander. Finally, The festival will close with the great success of The Girls of Cádiz, The wind is wild, a free recreation, tragicomic and Cadiz drama about the myths of Phaedra and Medea with which they won the Max award for Best New Show 2020.

During this edition, parallel to the Festival, attendees will also be able to participate in a program of thematic guided visits to the Archaeological Site, organized from the University Institute of Research in Archeology and Historical Heritage of the UA, during the hours of 20 h and duration of 30 min.

Lysistrata. Occupy the Acropolis – Aula de Teatro de la UA
El grupo de teatro clásico del Aula de Teatro de la UA presenta Lisístrata. Occupy the Acropolis, basada en la obra Lisístrata de Aristófanes y en la versión libre del director del montaje, Francesc Sanguino.

Lisístrata se representó por primera vez en el 411 a. C., y se convirtió en un símbolo del esfuerzo organizado y pacífico a favor de la paz. En la versión del Aula de Teatro, estrenada el pasado 12 de junio en el Paraninfo de la UA, la obra se sitúa en los ensayos de la obra a cargo de un grupo de estudiantes refugiados en el Teatro Mariupol (Ukraine). Esta versión ahonda en la situación general de la mujer en Grecia más allá de la huelga sexual del texto original. Sin perder nunca el sentido de comedia, mantiene la premisa de Aristófanes de ofrecer soluciones pacíficas contra guerras que causan siempre víctimas inocentes.
