VIII Horts Festival: Antonio Galera + Judit Neddermann and Darío Barroso

Manuel de Falla was born in Cádiz now 150 years. Away from the great European cultural circles, but nurtured artistically by a pianist mother and a nanny who sang folk songs to him, he made Andalusian folklore the musical basis for some of his most important works. The next generation of artists from our country, among them Vicent Asencio, he used this same formula to also enrich our musical heritage with harmonies and avant-garde compositional techniques of the time. The last years of his life, distressed by the context of the Civil War and the Second World War, Manuel de Falla went into exile in Alta Gràcia, to Argentina. But, from that remote place, it continued to be a beacon and inspiration for composers such as Alberto Ginastera, who also made folklore the basis of his compositional imagination.

The pianist and director of the Festival, Antonio Galera, for years he has been building programs in which he draws common threads between all these authors in a project that he has turned into a record work, CORDES, scheduled for next fall, and of which you can enjoy a preview tonight.

Singer-songwriter Judit Neddermann and guitarist Darío Barroso will close the first evening with Brota, an intimate and close recital under the trees in our garden. The music that will play will be new and old, but always sung from the present, with unpublished songs that are not yet part of any album, as Libert, a single dedicated to his grandfather who has just seen the light of day. As we do with Picanya, Judit is an ambassador for the beauty of her town, Vilassar, and sings with a look and a voice full of hope about what he observes and the people he surrounds himself with. We welcome you to our festival, with the desire that Villa Rosita be, for one night, also his house.
