Valencia, riu and platja is a beautifying book composed of ten texts that make up the essence of its author, the journalist and writer Felipe Bens. First of all, there is a set of pieces relating to the history of the Maritime Towns of Valencia, the one that runs along the beach, here conformed by a sensory transfer to the port of the decades of 1970 i 1980, for a beautiful walk along the game of Vera -where the vegetable garden gradually infiltrates the sea-, by the footprint of the drains on the streets of the cabanyal, for the humble lives that Robert Frank portrayed seventy-five years ago and for the maritime and fluvial odyssey of the patron of the Valentinian fishermen, the image of Christ the Savior.
The second component is several walks through the historic center of Valencia, the Old City installed on the banks of the river Turia: by the square of Monsignor Sorell, its market and before its palace, as one of the epicenters of the Carmel; for the area of Central Market i part de Velvets; and finally for the fantastic story of the well in Carrer de Viciana in defense of the Valencian language, already in the Seu district.
Next, the book flies far beyond the city of Valencia in order to accompany one of his children to the urban planning capital of the contemporary world, Nova York, no l’actual, but the one built between the 19th and 20th centuries by a Valentinian architect: Rafael Guastavino Moreno, the exporter and perfector of our traditional constructive vault made of tile and ceramic coating.
Ultimately, the book contains a personal touch, very intimate, belonging to the everyday life of its author: the fact of being a father of two small children past the 50 years. And, actually, the first of the texts in the book, but it is the ornament that makes the set of Valencia, riu and platja a suggestive combination, tasty, refreshing and extraordinarily delicious, what is this present Tuesday 29 from October to 19:15 hours in it Territorial College of Architects of Valencia (C/ Hernan Cortés, 6), by the hand of the same author, Felipe Bens, of the book's historian and prologue Vincent Baydal and the architect David Estal.
At the end of the act, a wine of honor will be offered. Here you will find a sample of the book.
