The film program with which La Filmoteca joins Black Valencia brings the writer to our room this year, screenwriter and director of television series Manuel Ríos San Martín about The trace of evil, film in which he adapts his own novel to the cinema, a thriller set in the Atapuerca site, which links the most remote past with the present. The session includes presentation, screening and subsequent discussion moderated by Daniel Gascó, and constitutes a privileged opportunity to reflect with the author on the relationship between novel and cinema, to the challenges involved in moving from one medium to another, the writing, to another, the audiovisual and how a literary story is embodied in images.
21.05.26 THURSDAY / 18.30 h Presentation and discussion with the director, Manuel Ríos San Martín, moderated by Daniel Gascó, film critic.
The trace of evil
MANUEL RÍOS SAN MARTÍN. Spain. 2025. 106′. DCP.
Int. Blanca Suarez, Daniel Grao, Aria Bedmar, Victor Palmero, Cosimo Fusco, Fernando Cayo.
The body of a naked young woman in the fetal position appears in the place where the replica of a Neanderthal burial in Atapuerca should be, an obliterating ritual crime that recalls another that occurred six years ago in the same area. The "assassin of the site" will have returned, who managed to escape six years ago?
