Valencia International Performance Academy & Festival

The Center of the Carme Culture Contemporary (CCCC) welcomes the international flamenco pianist, Andrés Barrios and the Valencian violinist Vicente Huerta, as guest artists within the 14th edition of the VIPA international piano and composition festival 2026, which opens on Tuesday 7 of July. With the support of the Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community (CMCV), the Gothic cloister of the Center del Carme will host until the 16 July the recitals of the 'Valencia International Performance Academy & Festival' every night starting at 22.00 hours, With free admission. Vipa 2026 will bring together more than a hundred professionals, teachers and young students from the most prestigious music schools around the world, that will offer outdoor musical evenings. For the first time, the Center del Carme includes leading figures from the musical field in the VIPA program. The Valencian Vicente Huerta, winner of a Goya in 2012 for participating as solo violin in the soundtrack of the film 'The Skin I Live In', by Pedro Almodóvar, will offer his recital on Thursday 9 of July, and the renowned pianist Andrés Barrios, one of the most innovative figures of current flamenco piano, will give his recital on Saturday 11 of July.

The festival starts on 7 July at 22.00 hours, in the Gothic cloister of the Center del Carme with the inaugural VIPA Concert 2026, by pianist Sebastian Picht, American student, absolute winner of the VIPA International Piano Competition of 2025, with a recital of works by Beethoven, Scriabin and Ravel.

Programming will continue 8 July with the first of the VIPA Piano student recitals, followed by the concert of the Valencian violinist Vicente Huerta, he 9 of July. Considered one of the most outstanding Spanish violinists of his generation., Huerta trained at the higher conservatories of Valencia, Barcelona and Brussels, where he obtained the highest award for virtuosity. Huerta has performed with important orchestras in Europe and the United States and participated as violin soloist in the award-winning Goya for Best Soundtrack in 2012, the 'The skin I live in', by Pedro Almodóvar, composed by Alberto Iglesias. At the Center del Carme recital he will be accompanied by the pianist and director of VIPA, Very Carlos, in a program with works by Beethoven and César Franck.

He 11 July the festival will welcome the pianist and composer Andrés Barrios, one of the most innovative figures of current flamenco piano. Barrios has developed his own language in which flamenco dialogues with jazz, classical music and other contemporary currents. Barrios is today an international artistic figure and one of the most promising figures on the Spanish music scene.. The cycle at the CCCC is completed with new recitals by VIIPA Piano students on days 10, 14 y 15 of July. He 16 In July the Closing Gala will be held with the joint recital of the winning students of the contest.

From 20 of July, The activity will move to the Auditorium of the Ateneo Musical del Puerto, where the VICE Ensemble concerts will take place (20 y 23 of July) and the Mivos Quartet (21 y 24 of July), all of them at 19:00 hours.
