Valencia to 33 rpm: “House special” by Doctor Divago

SGAE Foundation, through the Territorial Council of SGAE of the Valencian Community, celebrates Valencia 33 rpm, a program of musical discussions designed, directed and presented by the journalist and writer Rafa Cervera, and which revolves around essential albums in the history of Valencian popular music. The first session stars House Special, compilation album 2014 that commemorated the first 25 years of experience of the group Doctor Divago. The act, with free entry, will take place on Thursday 21 of May, at 18 hours, in the SGAE Hall Cultural Center Valencia (Laundry, 6).
The conversation, led by the aforementioned Rafa Cervera, will feature interventions by Manolo Bertrán (compositor, singer and guitarist of Doctor Divago) and César Campoy (cultural journalist and writer). Together they will analyze the ins and outs of Special House, the context in which it was published, the artistic evolution of the group throughout those 25 years of history compressed into 23 songs or, among other matters, the significance that a group with almost four decades of career as Doctor Divago has in the entire Valencian rock scene.
“Instead of choosing a specific album from Doctor Divago's discography, case of essentials like Elemental Revolt or El loco del chándal, We opted for this compilation as a vindication of this now classic band, one of the longest-lived in our scene”, Cervera explains. “The band's signature style and spirit are perfectly reflected in House Special., album that was also published accompanied by a documentary by Rubén Soler, The silly good times, that covered the trajectory of the group from its formation in 1989. “A group whose songs have not always had the recognition they deserve”, adds the Valencia coordinator to 33 rpm.
The Valencia program 33 rpm will continue 10 June with a session dedicated to the album Entre col i col… lletuga, from Carraixet. Published in 1979, The album was a pioneer in the dissemination of traditional Valencian music in the midst of the Transition and is considered a pillar of the Valencian nova cançó.
