On the occasion of LGTBI History Month, We invite you to the meeting “TAN FLAMENCAS: COPLA AND LGTBI LEGACY” within the cycle Generative: literary meetings for diversity, the next 28 from February to 18:00 in CC The Charity. The Valencian writer and journalist Valeria Vegas and the researcher Lidia García will discuss the historical relationship between the LGTBI collective and the copla, with the performance of the Alzireño artist Lucerito de las Marismas. Moderated by Dra. Celia Carrascosa.
Valeria Vegas, “So flamenco” (ed. Aguilar, 2025)
Valeria Vegas has a degree in Audiovisual Communication. Among his publications, the memoirs of La Veneno and Vestidas de azul stand out., both adapted to fiction series. She is also the author of the novel The Best Supporting Actress. He has directed the docuseries El enigma Nadiuska, an Atres player; and Super Sara, para HBO, about the figure of Sara Montiel. He currently collaborates on several television programs.
Lydia Garcia, “Sevillian Tarantella” (Editions B, 2024)
Lidia García García is a researcher, writer and cultural disseminator, PhD in Art History from the University of Murcia ,with a thesis on copla and camp practices. She is the author of the podcast ¡Ay, bells! and from the book of the same name (We are B, 2022). Collaborate in the TVE Neighborhood Cinema programs, Tomorrow more, by RNE, and the window, by Cadena SER. Fellow of the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome, recently published Tarantela sevillana (2024), where he explores the footprint of folklore in Italy.

Lucerita, stage name of Juan Benavent, is a Valencian artist whose career stands out for his unique mastery in the fusion of textual theater with disciplines such as dance and flamenco singing.. Best Newcomer 2025 by the AAPV, is on tour with his music and dance shows: ” Piano and couplet” y “It's never too late” where he pays tribute to the flamenco song and the copla.
