Pediatric overweight and obesity: present metabolic dysfunctions and long-term evolution

Overweight and obesity in childhood not only do they represent a growing public health challenge, but are associated with metabolic alterations that can condition the clinical evolution in adulthood.. In a new meeting of the cycle Healthy Living, the Dra. Marina Berenguer, hepatologist at the Hospital Universitari i Politècnic La Fe, interview with Dr. Manuel Moya, Emeritus Professor of Pediatrics, to address these dysfunctions and their long-term projection.

The conversation will focus on the diagnostic accuracy of pediatric obesity and the evolution of abdominal adipose tissue.. We will address the appearance of steatotic liver, progression towards states of prediabetes and type diabetes 2, as well as the elevation of blood pressure at an early age. We will also reflect on other implications associated, like the stigma.
