The proposal for Film Tuesdays at the IVAM is proposed with the aim of making the museum an interdisciplinary space that activates a conversation between the arts and the museum as an arena of contemporary creation.. With a curator in charge of Las Entendidas, The cycle will present a monthly selection of audiovisual proposals, of artistic and social interest that has had little or no- presence in exhibition circuits of the city and, thus, is presented as a rare bird, providing the IVAM with a special meeting place. The project wants to promote a horizontal conversation, close and close. Bring the city closer to creators and proposals never seen before, also promoting support for local creation networks and Valencian projects. Besides, the cycle will have special guests, creators, filmmakers and audiovisual professionals, to offer a meeting around the projection and discussion of his work.
The screening sessions will be accompanied by a presentation and discussion for the general public., but since we proposed the idea of creating an expanded cinema club with the aim of strengthening the public and making it a regular, the proposal includes activities beyond the joint monthly viewing for a resident group IVAM cinephilia. This stable group, which will be made up of a prior selection under registration, will participate in thematic sessions associated with programming, in which the space for discussion will be expanded to provide other cinematographic and cultural references that enrich the experience. Besides, the members of the IVAM cinephilia group, You will receive a specialized quarterly newsletter (More than a question, a reflection) that extends the content of the sessions and complements it with other formats to work outside the museum.
The idea is to make the IVAM a place where we can collectively think about the spectator experience., where to share concerns and explore topics and new obsessions, where to connect the audiovisual with other disciplines and spaces of thought and where to deactivate the limits of the museum to bring it closer to what is personal and community.
Those understood (Adriana Cabeza and Alexia Guillot, Graduates in Audiovisual Communication and Art History, respectively) They reflect on audiovisual culture through Instagram, under a critical gaze and their particular vision as spectators. Currently, They combine film presentations and discussions in theaters (Cine Light, Babel) and cultural centers (Caixa Forum) with the work as prescribers of films and radio series (every Thursday on À Punt Radio) and digital media.
Registrations: To be part of the IVAM cinephilia group, It will be required to send a letter explaining the motivation for being part of the project to the email reserves_ext@ivam.es. The deadline for receipt of applications is 29 of September. Acceptance to the program will be informed from the day 1 October.
