The Valencian Institute of Modern Art (VAT) welcomes the 28 of April, at 19.00 hours, a meeting with the actresses and intimacy coordinators Lucía Delgado and Tábata Cerezo, within the film series 'Expanded Session'. During the session, titled 'The intimate image. Hegemonic representations of intimacy and sexuality on screen' the experts will explain the keys to their work and analyze how creators and viewers can promote a more diverse and inclusive view when portraying intimacy in the audiovisual sector.
Lucía and Tábata founded in 2021 a pioneer agency in intimacy coordination in Spain called IntimAct. They have been responsible for coordinating the privacy of more than 100 national and international projects, among which the films 'Los Domingos' stand out, 'Pilgrimage' or 'Maspalomas', or the 'Querer' series, 'Elite' (seasons 6, 7 y 8), o ‘Self-Tape’. They have also dedicated themselves to research and dissemination on issues as important as consent in audiovisuals or the representation of privacy on screen..
In this session at the IVAM, “We will share our experience as intimacy coordinators through examples of sequences or films, but without focusing on specific cases”, Lucía Delgado explains. The specialist points out that they will address how, despite living surrounded by screens and images, “We spend little time developing a critical look at the imaginaries that these generate and how they are installed in our culture”.
Regarding the role of fiction in private life, Delgado adds “Representations of intimacy and sexuality in cinema are important since they constitute our main behavioral reference. Fiction teaches us, legitimizes or punishes desires and behaviors depending on how they are displayed in the audiovisual sector”.
This conversation is part of the film series 'Expanded Session', hosted by Adriana Cabeza and Alexia Guillot, known under the name of Las Entendidas. This cycle proposes monthly conferences or screenings of films that are usually left out of the city's exhibition circuits.. Attendance at these sessions is free until capacity is reached..
