“Literature and music at the court of Lucrezia Borgia” arises from the creative dialogue between the writer Isabel Barceló Chico, author of Lucrezia Borgia (1480-1519). In a new light (2022), and Laia Blasco, teacher and director of the Ensemble Música Antiga of the Music School of the Societat Musical d’Alboraia.
Based on the central role that music and poetry played in the Renaissance—and especially at the court of Lucrezia Borgia, considered one of the most brilliant in Europe in the first half of the 16th century—, The project proposes bringing together both disciplines again to offer the public a suggestive approach to that society and its way of understanding the world..
The proposal recreates both the music that was performed and the texts that were read in his court, in Rome and Ferrara, and accompanies different moments in the life of this outstanding figure of the Renaissance, who never lost the link with his Valencian origins. The result is an agile and evocative experience that combines words and music, transporting us to a time marked by beauty, the splendor and also the uncertainty, in which Valencian composers also stood out.
