The evolutionary transition between theropods and birds has been a challenge and a heated debate in the history of paleontology.. The cause of this evolutionary uncertainty was due, in part, to the scarce and poor fossil record worldwide until 1980. However, from then on, the increase in specimens has skyrocketed. Specific, the findings from the deposits of the Iberian plate and the Pyrenees, with complete and articulated specimens of exceptionally preserved maniraptorids, have contributed to revealing how this evolutionary transition occurred.
In this talk, Dr. Buscalioni will tell us in detail not only about the anatomy of flight, but also the growth, physiology, reproduction and habitats of flying dinosaurs, from which the first birds evolved.
