Presentation of the book “Florentine”

Florentina is the title of this book and the name of the protagonist of this story. Perhaps when you read Florentina's story it reminds you of other women who were born in small towns and had to migrate for various reasons, personal stories silenced and crossed by themes common to all of them. Maybe in your town, there is one “Florentine”, but in the case of Alcublas, Pilar Mínguez and Paco Teruel's interest in researching Florentina has opened a process of re-signification in the form of an illustrated book.

We will only give you five cents about it to invite you to come to the presentation and listen to its authors:

Florentina Mañes Lázaro was born in Alcublas (the Serrania) at the beginning of the 20th century. She grew up surrounded by many suspicions towards her person and in the middle of the years 30 migrated to Barcelona looking for new opportunities. At his death, l’any 1979, left as a universal heir the Municipal Hospital of Badalona and bequeathed to his town a part to help the needy people of Alcublas. He did not forget his roots, but little was known about the town of her life until Pilar and Paco investigated and decided to give voice to Florentina with a novelized book about her life and in which the illustration of Marina Veintimilla is the protagonist.
