Old age is, right now, very disreputable. Everyone wants to grow old, but no one wants to be. In a society in which youth and the worship of the body and beauty are praised, being old - and even more so old - is a shame, a chakra, almost a stigma. But, denying it doesn't make it go away. Tobies Grimaltos reflects on this vital period of old age, in permanent discussion with Cicero and other classics, and consideration of personal experiences, own or close ones.
