Gunpowder in the Vesper 2026

Gunpowder in the Vesper it is an experimental contest, non-competitive, conceived to explore the creative possibilities of a manifestation deeply rooted in our cultural identity: pyrotechnics. Transversally present in the festive culture of the Valencian territory, and especially linked to the Fallas, pyrotechnics constitute a language of its own that forms part of our intangible heritage.

The project was born with the desire to place pyrotechnics in a context of contemporary reflection and creation, understood as a living discipline, in constant evolution, and with a wide potential for creative development. Pólvora a la Vespra offers a space of freedom in which invited pyrotechnic professionals can develop their creative capacity without prior conditions, beyond the exercise of experimentation.

The competition is conceived as a showcase for research and innovation, deliberately moving away from structures, preset scores or patterns. Each intervention is considered as a unique proposal, open to new languages and approaches, that questions traditional canons without renouncing the cultural essence of pyrotechnics.

From Pólvora a la Vespra, pyrotechnics are claimed as a form of contemporary expression, able to dialogue with the present, take creative risks and generate new perspectives. The project bets on surprise, exploration and openness to the unknown as necessary engines for the evolution of a tradition that remains fully alive.
