Russian virtuoso pianist Nikolai Lugansky, one of the most eminent figures of contemporary piano, stars in this season ticket recital at Sala Iturbi. Recognized worldwide for his impeccable technique and an unusual poetic sensibility, Lugansky has consolidated a stellar career since winning second prize at the prestigious Tchaikovsky Competition. The program chosen for this evening reflects his artistic versatility, starting with the intimate lyricism and fantasy of Robert Schumann. In the second part, Lugansky takes on the challenge of transferring the orchestral magnitude of Richard Wagner to the keyboard through two master pieces: his own transcription of scenes from "The Sunset of the Gods" and the prestigious “Love Death” of “Tristan and Isolde”, in Franz Liszt's iconic version.
