French and Portuguese music of the late 19th and early 20th centuries

The Orchestra of Valencia offers a program dedicated to French and Portuguese music from the late 19th and early 20th centuries under the direction of the Lusitanian maestro Nuno Coelho. The concert begins with the symphonic poem Vathek by the composer Luís de Freitas Branco, a work of intense evocative character. The program continues with From a spring morning by Lili Boulanger, French composer of extraordinary talent and first woman to be awarded the Rome Prize, and culminates with Iberia, one of the most brilliant pages of Images pour orchestre by Claude Debussy, score that recreates with great timbre richness the atmosphere and musical color of Spain.
