Mnemosyne

The José Luis Soler Room, located in Gens Bombs (Valencia), welcomes from 19 September the exhibition ‘Mnemosyne. Drifts and fragments in the production of memory, by art historian and new curator Eva del Llano (Havana, 1997). The project was the winner of the first edition of the José Luis Soler Curator Award, summoned by PHotoESPAÑA and the José Luis Soler Collection to give visibility to new voices in research, mediation and curator.

The exhibition establishes a dialogue with the motto of PHotoESPAÑA 2025, 'After all', based on a selection of works by Ferrán García Sevilla, Hamish Fulton, John Mekas, A board banks yuma naka naka nakanakara., present in the José Luis Soler Collection. The project is committed to a decentralized understanding of memory, conceived not as a linear and closed story, but as a plural construction made of fragments and drifts.

More than a set of images, Mnemosyne is conceived as a network of visual and textual sequences that refer to the experience of memory itself.: a story in which seriality, repetition and exchange of glances take on a central role. In this context, the viewer becomes a co-producer of meaning, invited to tour and experience the exhibition from your own subjectivity.

The jury, composed of Sandra Guimarães (Helga de Alvear Museum), Manuel Segade (Reina Sofía National Museum of Art Center) y Vicente Todolí (Pirelli HangarBicocca), highlighted the conceptual solidity of the proposal and its ability to offer a contemporary reading of memory, as well as the creativity of a parallel program that will promote intergenerational dialogue and the involvement of diverse audiences.
