Story marathon

Storytelling and literary activities without interruption since 11 from the morning until the 21 of the night. The next 2 of April, International Children's and Young People's Book Day, Fnac will convert its stores in San Agustín and Bonaire into two spaces dedicated entirely to the imagination, storytelling and promoting reading among the youngest. The date, commemorating the birth of Hans Christian Andersen, arrives this year accompanied by a particularly optimistic context: Reading indicators in Spain show an upward trend that refutes the idea that children and young people have abandoned books.
childhood, hotbed of future readers
The Barometer of Reading and Book Purchasing Habits 2025 places the public between 14 y 24 years as the most reader in the country, with a 76,9% of young people who report reading regularly. for the first time, besides, The percentage of the population that reads books in their free time exceeds 66%, a figure that has not stopped growing since 2017. Children's reading also remains at very high levels: in more than 77% of households with minors 6 years you continue reading as a family, and near the 80% of children between 6 y 9 years maintains the reading habit. Even among those older than 65 years, historically further removed from these practices, reading has experienced a rise to reach the 58%.
This scenario, which has surprised even those responsible for the study due to its consolidation, coincides with a recovery in the use of libraries - which are already attended by almost 30% of the population—and with an increase in digital readers and audiobook users. Spain, definitely, read more and do it in a more diverse way.
