The Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community (CMCV) and the Valencia City Council pay tribute to the Valencian painter Manuel Benedito in the 150 anniversary of his birth, with an exhibition at the City Museum that brings together some of his best paintings and that shows the complexity of his painting, showing his creation processes and the vitality of his portraits.
The Museum Consortium, which he already did in 2005 an anthological exhibition of the painter, now proposes a tour of his works through a series of important paintings from his production, on different topics, y, next to them, sketches and preparatory studies, that allow you to know the different phases of your creative process until the final result. The exhibition focuses on portrait commissions, in the compositions that involved a more complex process and in the painter's approach to certain popular themes and types.
They stand out among the self-portrait works with 'The Return of Work' (1905) which is exhibited for the first time, after its acquisition by the Prado Museum in 2024 and that belonged to a private collection since its creation. In addition, The upper part of the large diptych 'Canto VII of the Divine Comedy' is exhibited. 'Dante's Inferno', which leaves the Manuel Benedito Foundation for the first time and which was in the painter's studio.
