This year 2025 The centenary of the birth of artist Manolo Gil is fulfilled (Valencia 1925-1957), One of the most admired and important creators of the generation of artists from the post -war avant -garde in Spain, who died prematurely to 32 years old.
Cult and traveled man, He did a deeply renovating plastic work and in continuous mutation. Founding member of the first post -war avant -garde group in Valencia, The Z Group (1947-1950), He was also ideologue and promoter -together with the art critic Vicente Aguilera Cerni- of the Parpalló Group (1956-1961).
Between 1992 y 1995 The Ivam incorporated more than three hundred works by Manolo Gil donated by his widow to his collection, The artist Jacinta Gil. Next to this works fund, The museum's library and documentation center was also presented with the donation of an album of more than two hundred pages made by Jacinta Gil that thoroughly documes all its trajectory and the critical fortune of the Creator after his death. Next to small catalogs, writings and documents of the period between 1945 y 1971, Jacinta Gil patiently mounted a selection of unpublished drawings that are shown for the first time in this exhibition.
This sample is conceived as a small tribute to the figure of Manolo Gil, And it is structured as a timeline from the materials extracted from the album and shown in dialogue with a representative selection of works of all the various stages of his career. At the same time it acts as a prologue to the sample Dare more, which can be seen in the IVAM at the end of this 2025, a project that will review the Valencian art between 1947 y 1960 Commissioned by Ramon Escrivà and Nacho Paris.
